American Based Research Journal

Proof that anyone can be a scholarly publisher.

The American Based Research Journal, which claims to be based in the UK, is providing researchers with some much needed comic relief by sending out a ridiculous spam email soliciting article manuscripts. The journal claims it partners with a university in New Jersey, and it claims its articles are indexed in Scribd and SlideShare, even though these are not indexing services.

Partnering with Princeton?

Spam Email

I have seen hundreds of spam emails from low-quality scholarly publishers, but this one stands out for its unintended comic effect. The spam email begins:

Dear Dear Author,

We are really impressed after reading your research work:

“Research Article”

The email continues:

Our journal American Based Researche Journal (ISSN-2304-7151)<http://www.abrj.org/> with good reputation and published by USA PhD Doctors Collaboration and referred from them, which focuses on business, management, marketing, finance, economics, human resource management, Project thesis, Business problems and solutions and relevant subjects.

ABRJ INDEXED IN:

Please send us the articles for publish from students, Research scholars and professors for Calls for Papers-Sep-25-2014 publications. It would be greatly appreciated if you could share this information with your colleagues and associates.

The email is signed:

Best wishes,

Editor
Dr. Merry Jeans
New York, USA

This is clearly a made-up name. I found older copies of this spam email archived on the internet dating from 2013, signed using different names.

Here is a PDF copy of the email. Needless to say, I recommend against submitting papers to this journal, which apparently, is really based in Pakistan.
